Winter can put our body to the test.  This season can be difficult to bear when it comes to your health.  However our beauty regime should also be kept in check!  Low temperatures seem to get rid of all traces of moisture from our body which is numb with cold…  Our face, lips, in fact, our entire body are sensitive and become almost unrecognisable.  This is where some cosy winter cosmetics can come to your aid!  Just as effective as they are comforting, they will help you to keep your beauty regime in check over the winter.

First of all it is important to remember that body scrubs are great for removing dead skin cells which will give your skin a soothed and bright appearance. For this scrub you need 4 tables spoons of a vegetable oil (Coconut, olive, avocado), 6 tablespoons of sugar or large grains of salt and two tablespoons of ground coffee.  Next you can play around with the aromatic side of the scrub.  You can add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon, orange peelings cut into small pieces and 20 drops of orange essential oil.  Lastly you need to keep everything in a tub in the fridge.  There you have it.  All you need to make your own addictive exfoliating scrub!

2) A moisturising mask for skin that cries “I’m thirsty!”

All types of skin can lack moisture and start feeling tight.  Here is a wonderful moisturising mask recipe if you are wanting to make your skin feel comfortable again and revive your complexion.  To start mix 3 teaspoons of natural yogurt and half a teaspoon of jojoba oil.  Then finish with two teaspoons of red clay and a drop of palmarosa essential oil.  This oil is great for dry and dehydrated skin.  Next, when everything has been incorporated together well, apply the mask to your face avoiding the contours of your eyes.  Lastly leave to rest on your skin for 15 minutes.

Cold hand is something that everyone can have.  Here is one of the best winter warming cosmetic ideas.  What’s even better is the cream can also heat up your feat as well.  This cream is a must-have for those long winter nights or if you are going on a ski trip!  Heat up 30 ml of sweet almond oil, 15 ml of calophyll oil and 10 g of bees wax over a bain marie.  When all the ingredients are well incorporated add ten drops of each oil the following essential oils:  ginger and rose geranium.  Lastly transfer the mixture into a tub and keep in a shaded and cool environment.

Speaking about hands, are yours as dry and prickly as your Christmas tree?  To make your own nourishing moisturiser melt 10 g of shea butter and 3 g of bees wax over a bain marie.  Then, when off the heat, add 15 ml of avocado oil to your mixture and 15 drops of rosewood and palmarosa essential oils.  Hot temperatures can destroy the good qualities of the oils.  After stirring well, transfer the mixture to a tub and wait until it is solidified.  All you need to do now is to find a dark  and dry corner to store your moisturiser.

Well all you need to do is mix 50 ml of sweet almond oil with 10 drops of petitgrain bitter orange essential oil,  5 drops of sweet orange essential oil and 5 drops of Celyon cinnamon essential oil (Watch out as other cinnamons are very irritating). And in no time at all you’ll have concocted a care that smells deliciously good and extremely effective. What’s more, it relaxes and gives you a very light heating effect. In short, it’s the complete care that your skin has been waiting for!

Are your lips are in a sorry state? Test this soothing and protective recipe quick! Melt a tablespoon of shea butter in a bain-marie. Then add a drop of Roman chamomile essential oil off the heat. Lastly, finish up by adding 3 drops of one of these two options: either the petit-grain bitter orange essential oil (for a strong aroma), or rose geranium essential oil (a more floral scent). These two options will be equally as good for your lips so the choice is yours. Moreover, you can also tidy up your lips with an effective exfoliating mixture. To do this, you just need a tablespoon of honey, another of vegetable oil (coconut, avocado, almond, olive) and two or three spoonfuls of sugar. With all that flavoursome goodness, it’s not just Christmas treats that will be getting your mouth watering.

Winter can leave your skin feeling sensitive and irritated.  Fortunately there are effective cares that you can apply onto your skin before your usual cream to combat red cheeks.  So that you can do this, pour into the palm of your hand a dash of aloe vera oil, 3 drops of jojoba oil and 1 drop of of Italian immortal essential oil.  Then rub the mixture the affected areas with your finger.  Say goodbye to your red nose that could shame Rudolf or those rosy cheeks like Santa Claus!  If you have a limited budget then you can replace Italian immortal essential oil for rose geranium.  The magic potion will be just as effective!
