Did you know that lavender is great at combating stress, anxiety and even some depressive states? As a sedative, it is also effective against migraines, digestions difficulties and dizziness. It also have healing and antiseptic properties. Put simply, this plant is great to have around the house. How can you use this plant wisely? Here are some of our recommendations.
1 — Herbal Infusion
What you need:
- Dried lavender flowers
- A little honey
Steps:
1) Add a tablespoon if dried lavender flowers to 250 ml of boiling water.
2) Add a dash of honey
3) Drink up to 4 cups per day. It is great for your health!
2 — Maceration oil
What you need:
- Dried lavender flowers
- 1 litre of olive oil
Steps:
1) Leave 3 good handfuls of dried lavender flowers to infuse in 1 litre of olive oil in the sun.
2) Transfer the oil into a bottle. You can then use this oil to soothe any back pain or insect bites.
3 – Infused vinegar
What you need:
- Dried lavender flowers
- Cider vinegar
Steps:
1) In a bottle, first place a few handfuls of lavender flowers so your bottle is half full.
2) Next pour in the vinegar and then leave to infuse in the sun for one month.
3) Then conserve the mixture and you have the occasion pour a few drops into your bath. This is a great way to relax after a hard day.
4 – Floral water
What you need:
- Dried lavender flowers
- Grapefruit pip extract
Steps:
1) Boil 1 litre of water with 3 handfuls of lavender
2) Leave to infuse and then filter
3) Add 5 drops of grapefruit pip extract
4) Keep the water in the fridge for a month
5) Use the lotion as a makeup remover or to combat acne.
5 — As an essential oil
What you need:
- A bottle of lavender essential oil
Steps:
— If you have a sore head then you can use a few drops of the oil to massage into your temple.
— If you have bruises you can dilute about ten drops of lavender oil with a tablespoon of a vegetable oil and the apply the mixture on to the affected area.
— If you have heavy periods you can dilute the essential oil in a 1 to 5 dosage with a vegetable oil and massage into the lower stomach.
