Haemorrhoids occur in a particularly delicate area around the anus and rectum, and as a result the pain can be very difficult to deal with on a daily basis.  Far from being uncommon, it will affect one Briton out of two at some point in their life.  As it is such a common illness, the natural remedies in this article will help many people who either suffer from haemorrhoids from time to time or on a regular basis!   We recommend remedies using essential oils but not only as there are many other natural reliefs for swollen veins in this sensitive area!

1) Clay poultice

Clay is not only useful for spots.  It is also excellent for healing the skin, purifying, remineralizing, detoxifying and sanitizing while also having great antibacterial power.  Used 2 to 3 times per day, make a paste with a tablespoon of clay mixed with water.  Apply the mixture onto the affected area, cover with a gauze and leave to sit for 30 minutes.  Rinse with cold water.

2) Patchouli essential oil

This oil helps to decongest the area whether it is around the vein or the lymph gland.  It is also perfect for regenerating the area, soothing it and helping it to heal.  It can be used internally for 2 weeks in severe cases.  Place two drops onto a spoon of sugar or honey both morning and night.  You can also apply it directly onto the affected area.  Mix 3 drops of the oil with 3 drops of hazelnut oil and apply morning and night for 3 weeks with a finger.  (Don’t use this oil if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or give to children under 10 years old.)

3) Witch hazel compresses

It is a good tonic for veins as it is has analgesic,  haemostatic,  anti-infectious, decongestant and  vasoconstrictor properties. Find a fluid extract of witch hazel and pour half a teaspoon onto a sterile pad 2 to 3 times a day. By mixing the same amount with a small blob of aloe vera, you will have an ultra-healing, soothing and regenerating blend. You should apply morning and night.

4) Pistachio lentisk essential oil

This oil is an excellent decongestant.  All you need to do is to dilute 2 drops into a teaspoon of calophylle oil.  Apply directly around your anus and repeat 2 times per day.  (Do not use during the first 3 months of pregnancy.)
