A sore throat can strike at any given moment, and at any time of year, leaving you unable to eat and with a croaky, hoarse voice (and of course, it’s not the kind of raspy, sexy hoarseness that could well croon along to Frank Sinatra, but the embarrassing frog-in-your-throat kind that leaves you incomprehensible to those around you!) It is at such times that we start looking frantically in the back of our presses, searching for all the essentials our grannies recommend to heal quickly from a sore throat. Honey is always a key ingredient, but not necessarily on its own! Here is how to make the ideal remedy for sore throats.
What you need:
- Thyme honey or manuka honey
- Lemon essential oil
- Optional: thyme tea
1) Take a teaspoon of honey and mix it with a teaspoon of cinnamon.
2) Add 3 drops of lemon essential oil to your mixture and stir it all together.
3) Take one teaspoon three times a day, allowing the mixture to slowly melt in your mouth, and taking your time to swallow it.
If you have difficulty swallowing it (some people don’t like the taste), don’t hesitate to add it to a thyme tea. In this case also, take your time when swallowing it. Follow this treatment for around 3 days.
